Testimonial - UK Youth

The determination and resilience of Sporting Inspirations CIC through the toughest of years has been incredible. On our programme Sound Creators, the team delivered activities with young women and girls with caring responsibilities using music as a positive mechanism to support the participants’ wellbeing. Sporting Inspirations and I’m In Radio worked with their Sound Creators group to develop the skills to write, produce and publish their own song and radio show –  benefitting from holding their sessions in a space with a recording studio and radio station. Music was found to be a powerful vehicle to open up conversations and form meaningful connections - truly inspirational work and a reminder of why this work is needed and why youth work works. We would like to thank the team for their commitment and ambition in supporting young people, as well as sharing insights and ideas in helping us to continue to develop and improve our programmes.

Testimonial - Herts Sport and Physical Activity Partnership

We have a long and very productive relationship with Sporting Inspirations who undertake some fantastic work- some of it funded by ourselves - across Hertfordshire.

Indeed, John Manitara is a committed and long-time supporter of the Partnership’s work, who is a well-known and respected individual in local sports development circles.

The focus of Sporting inspirations work is to provide positive and diversionary activities for vulnerable, disadvantaged and often disaffected young people and they have an enviable track record in the engagement of this often hard to reach cohort. We have been particularly impressed in the way that they have placed the voice of young people in the planning and co-design process and in their commitment to an inter-agency, sharing and learning approach.

Over recent years, they have also developed their monitoring and evaluation capabilities, providing both insightful qualitative and quantitative data, and a commitment to sustainable outcomes.

As such, I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Sporting Inspirations as an effective Sport for Development organisation and feel that any assistance given to the organisation would result in a telling and lasting impact.

John D O’Callaghan

Partnership Director - Herts Sports Partnership

Testimonial - Family Lives

Sporting Inspirations is very much in line with our own culture of high standards in delivering excellent young people and family support services. Our partnership allows us to offer a holistic unique service to families that achieves so much more when we combine our skills and expertise to work with young people and their parents together. We have worked with Sporting Inspirations on a number of successful projects, and we have established an effective working relationship so that there is mutual shared understanding of our goals and a commitment to supporting the young person and their family to realise those goals which is a key factor in our combined Agencies achieving sustainable outcomes together. We look forward to continuing our involvement with Sporting Inspirations and developing our partnership still further.

As Clarion Futures is a key funder in the area it is great to work with an organisation that is aware of the needs of the community; works to engage partners and delivers on time. However not only delivers well; and submits supporting information; but exceeds goals set and creates great relations with the community and with new and existing partners.

Working with Sporting Inspirations makes our role a little easier and less complex.

Sporting Inspirations, ‘continue to develop and grow the work that you do so well; and continue to learn and expand the activities that the community really need.’

Over the last year, we have developed a relationship with Sporting Inspirations who are one of the organisations we have funded under our Promoting Mental Wellbeing through Physical Activity Programme. The funding provided to support Sporting Inspirations CIC enabled them to support an inclusive group of homeless people from all backgrounds and deliver a project involving a combination of personal fitness and mentoring support.

The team at Sporting Inspirations is passionate, dedicated, and goes above and beyond to make sure every client feels welcomed and supported. Their project has proved to be a valuable resource for the community and helped to build resilience in dealing with mental health issues as well as promoting mental health.

LONDON TRIP!

Cosy Club, Stoney Community Centre, Stevenage

7 of our regular Cosy Club girls had the opportunity to explore London (and the BBC!) at the weekend.

We met at club in the morning and jumped on the train to Kings Cross and then on to Oxford Circus where the girls explored the shops before heading over to Broadcasting House, the home of BBC Radio 1, 1 Extra, The One Show and BBC news.

The girls were given a tour around all of the above, we even got a group photo on The One Show sofa!

One of our girls volunteered to read the news off of auto cue (she did BRILLIANTLY!) and everyone had a chance to try presenting the weather. Being show around the BBC was mind blowing - it is such a huge, complicated, incredible place! Inspiring!

Following that we ran to catch a canal boat from Warwick Avenue through Regents Park up to Camden Lock where we then explored the market and grabbed some dinner. Everyone was absolutely shattered on the way home, but not tired enough to stop some impromptu Tik Tok dancing on the train back to Stevenage.

We are planning more trips for the summer for our regular

Cosy Club girls including either a beach trip (Brighton last year was so much fun!) or a lake trip to try paddle boarding and kayaking.

All of our trips are funded and free to attend. The only caveat being that you have to be a regular at our youth clubs!

Every Tuesday of term time- 5pm - 7pm
